In a unexpected partnership that breaks conventional forecasts, the game developer has unveiled an virtual partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected holiday event operates from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Mission Revealed
According to the official statement, "A strange meeting leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where whispers of forbidden rituals and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the obscurity." The narrative features a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the characters with journeying into the Crystal Cave—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to liberate her ally from a secret group.
The mission centers on "peculiar experiments and a monstrous enemy" and is accessible to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Metamorphoses
The trailer highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through generations. The teaser finishes with a dramatic moment showing a character, likely the prisoner, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Additional Content
Players who finish the mission will receive an exclusive katana alongside numerous artifacts secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-based costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps steed
Third Free Story Content
This patch also adds the game's third free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This humorous mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange distinctive abilities: Naoe debuts a dramatic variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
